avoid the supply closet

Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], our family is currently reading through 1 Samuel together, and we just got to the part where Saul is being announced as the new king of Israel. The prophet Samuel gathers all of Israel together and prepares to share the news. The excitement grows and they get ready to make the announcement, but...

...they can't find Saul!

They look around everywhere for him and they can't find him. It gets to the point where they're actually praying for God's help to find this man who will be their first king and God shares the unsettling news:

And the Lord said, β€œYes, he has hidden himself among the supplies.”
1 Samuel 10:22

Hiding in the supply closet isn't exactly the best start to a new monarch. Yet despite all the circumstances surrounding Saul's appointment as king, God still used Saul in mighty ways.

It's tempting to want to hide when we don't feel confident to step out into something God is calling us to do. Maybe God is quietly calling you to do something right now and you're trying to avoid Him?

If so, I encourage you to get out of the supply closet.

I'm glad that Jonathan stepped out. He's an introvert. He's not an experienced speaker. When I asked him to share a talk at Scripture Sync his reply was basically "Are you sure you want me?"

But man, oh man...I'm so glad he did.

Jonathan shared the lessons he learned from memorizing the entire New Testament and it was better than I could have hoped for. It ended up being the highest-rated talk of the entire event...and it was his first time speaking!

I encourage you to find 30 minutes this weekend to watch or listen. You won't be disappointed.

πŸ“£ Surprising Lessons & Patterns in the NT

When does the Bible say "Jesus Christ" and when is it "Christ Jesus?" Is there a reason Jesus says only one "truly" at times and a "truly, truly" at others? The answers might surprise you, and this talk will definitely inspire you!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

What's Happening in the Community

Beyond Just Reciting the Words

How do you memorize Scripture word-for-word while staying connected to its meaning and context? Sheree asked whether combining verbatim memorization with outlines might help, and the community shared ideas for engaging more deeply with a passage while memorizing it.

Read the discussion and share what helps you connect the words with their meaning.

Take a Walk Through a 3D Memory Castle!

Victor has been building a creative new Scripture memory tool: a 3D memory castle you can explore right from your phone or browser. Add verses, images, audio, and video throughout the castle, then use review mode to practice spatial recall.

Check out Victor's project and share your feedback!

A New Resource for BSB Memorizers!

Emily shared a website her husband created featuring the Berean Standard Bible, along with some great tools for Scripture memory. With one click, you can turn a verse or entire chapter into first-letter prompts, plus access audio, customizable formatting, verse-number-free reading, and more.

Check out the resource and share your feedback!

Church Workshop

We've been generous with our post-Scripture Sync pricing, but the 50% discount is officially expiring this weekend. As we shift our focus on improving our marketing and course delivery, this is your last chance to get it for your church at this price. I'll even offer a refund guarantee since we don't have a lot of great marketing materials for you to see. Buy the materials and if it doesn't meet your expectations, we'll give you a refund.

Wherever you are in your Scripture memory journey this week, I hope that you've been encouraged by what God is teaching you. Take note of what He is saying.

And be sure to stay out of the supply closet :)
