be ready to give an answer

Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], I have high respect for people who work in the ministry of apologetics. They are constantly being scrutinized and having to answer difficult questions about Christianity, the Bible and grey areas of faith.

As I watch people like Wesley Huff, Amy Hall and others defend Christianity, there are two important things that I notice:

  • They are humble (i.e. they recognize they don't know everything)
  • They aren't afraid to use the words of Scripture (as opposed to just relying on logic or morality)

That second point is important. A defense of the Christian faith requires that we draw from the foundation of that faith - what God has given us through His Word.

If we want to make the most of every interaction we have with people (see this week's memory verse below!), we have to be ready to give an answer when people ask us about our faith (1 Peter 3:15).

This week I had the privilege to sit down for an interview with Amy Hall, a Christian apologist who is on staff at Stand to Reason (Greg Koukl's ministry) and has incredible insights into the importance of memorized Scripture when defending your beliefs.

Throughout the interview, she shares ten practical ways to make memorizing easier so whether you're deep into your journey or just getting started, you'll benefit from what she has to say!

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHT

What's Happening in our Community

Reflection & Application Space

Scripture memory is so much more than a mental exercise, it’s an invitation to transformation. As Romans 12:2 reminds us, we are renewed by the transforming of our minds. When God’s Word moves from our lips into our hearts, it begins shaping how we think, respond, and live.

We invite you to visit our Reflection & Application space to be encouraged by what others are learning—and to share your own insights.

Take a moment to reflect, write, and encourage someone else. Your story may be exactly what another member needs to hear today.

Share Your Wins

One of the most encouraging spaces in our community is Share Your Wins! If you haven’t visited it lately, you’re missing out!

There is something powerful about hearing someone else recite Scripture. It reminds us that this is possible. It strengthens our faith. It motivates us to keep going. Whether it’s one verse, one chapter, or an entire book, every step forward is worth celebrating.

Have you recorded a recitation lately? Share it!
Have you finished a passage? Post it!

Let’s keep building a culture where progress is shared, joy is multiplied, and God’s Word is honored together.

Recite Together!

Did you know that every month a group of our 150+ community Patrons get together to recite the Scripture they've memorized? It's great practice, but it's also an incredibly encouraging way to encounter the Bible as you hear it recited. Our weekly study session and monthly recite sessions are just some of the benefits of becoming a Patron. If you want to take your Scripture memory seriously...

Is there a specific person whose work as an apologist has had an impact on your life? It could be a modern influencer or it could be an author whose books were written decades ago.

Reply and let me know who it is for you :) Have a great week!
