Josh Summers | Bible Memory Goal

behind the scenes (3 secret projects)

Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], have you ever read through the book of Ecclesiastes? On the surface, it feels like such a depressing read ("all is vanity!") but when you really dig in, there is so much to draw out.

One of my favorite passages comes from chapter 3:

"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and time to die, a time to plan and a time to uproot...a time to tear down and a time to build..."

Sometimes I feel this pressure to do everything NOW, to generate results immediately and frankly to push myself to exhaustion.

These verses are a great reminder to me that God has built seasonal rhythms into our lives and that, as it says in verse 11, God "...made everything beautiful in its time."

That's been a hard truth for me to learn because...

  • ...I want a stronger body NOW instead of enjoying the process of working out, running and eating healthy food.
  • ...I want to memorize the ENTIRE New Testament NOW instead of being content with steadily focusing on one verse at time and allowing God to use that in my life.
  • ...I want to finish ALL my ideas NOW instead of focusing my time on the areas that are most important and will have the most impact.

Can you relate?

This week I didn't publish a video on YouTube because I've been working really hard on an amazing Bible memory project that will take at least 3 more months to make public. And yea...I'm getting impatient.

I did, however, record a podcast episode to give you a behind the scenes look at 3 of these projects that each have taken at least a year of development and I pray will be insanely helpful resources for you. Check it out:

I'm curious to know what you think!

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

— 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHT

What's Happening in our Community

Scripture Memory and Daily Devotions

Haley asked a thoughtful question this week: Is Scripture memory your entire time with God, or do you combine it with other things like a Bible reading plan?

Some people treat memorization as their primary Bible intake, while others pair it with structured reading plans or deeper study. The responses were encouraging and varied—reminding us there isn’t just one “right” rhythm. What matters most is that God’s Word is shaping our hearts and renewing our minds.

How do you structure your time in the Word? Join the discussion here.

Recitation Practice: Is There an App for That?

Jennifer sparked a thoughtful discussion this week when she asked whether there’s an app or AI program that will listen to your Scripture recitation and correct you in real time. Many members chimed in with helpful suggestions, resources, and ideas on ways people practice oral recitation, use technology to support review, and build confidence in speaking God’s Word aloud.

Have you tried anything like this, or do you use tools to help with audible recitation practice? Share what’s worked for you!

Church Workshop Waitlist

If you listened to this week's podcast episode, you heard about the church workshop curriculum that we're currently testing with 10 pilot churches. Is this something that interests you? Click the button below and I'll add you to the waitlist (the link just goes to our homepage but don't worry, you've been added to this list)

Remember, whether it's Scripture memory or some other aspect of your life, speed isn't usually the goal nor is it the measure of success. God has appointed seasons in life. Don't be discouraged by the time it takes or cyclical nature of your motivation.

Have a great weekend!
