brain fog and Bible memory

Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], I once saw this quote online that stuck with me. It's been attributed to multiple people including the late Robin Williams and even Socrates, but whoever said it, it goes like this:
"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."
It's not a Bible verse, but it's still something worth remembering.
Within our Bible memory community - and especially among our Bible memory Patrons - there are so many incredible people. Take Valerie Long as an example. I first met Valerie a couple years ago over a virtual call. She struck me then as such a sweet and loving person, and if you're part of our community, she's proven to be such an encouragement to everybody.
But during that time she was fighting a battle I didn't know about.
She was recovering from long-Covid.
The fatigue and the brain fog would be enough to make most anybody give up the idea of memorizing anything. But Valerie felt the Lord calling her to press into his Word and to be intentional about her daily prayer time.
If you have time this weekend, I know you'll love my chat with Valerie. During the conversation she shared:
What the Lord taught her through this experience with long Covid
How she created a special Prayer Bible that helps her memorize.
If you scroll down through the rest of this email, you can even grab her free verse list PDF that she graciously shared for all of us to download.
📣 Valerie's Prayer Bible for Scripture Memory
This week, community member and Patron Valerie Long shares her personal story and the method she uses to build a rich prayer life that compliments her memorization of Scripture. You don't want to miss this one!

Valerie shows exactly how she uses her memory prayer Bible.
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
This is one of our older videos (from about 4 years ago), but the lessons are just as relevant today.
In fact, Denise recently shared this:
“I just ran across this video from Josh on YouTube. (Yes, it is three years old, but everything he said hit me right where I’m at!)
That’s exactly why we’re bringing it back.
Over years of focused Scripture memory, I made plenty of mistakes—some small, some that completely stalled my progress.
In this video, I share 7 mistakes I personally made so you don’t have to learn the hard way. My hope is that you can move forward with more clarity, consistency, and confidence.
In this week's interview, Valerie talks about using a list of verses to pray through each day of the week. If you'd like to see what verses she uses (to steal or modify for yourself), she has been gracious to offer her list for free for you to download. Check it out!
FYI...Valerie is one of hundreds of amazing people that will be coming to Dallas for Scripture Sync 2026 this June. If you want to surround yourself with inspiring people like this that will encourage you to dive deeper into God's Word, grab your ticket while it's still available!
