how to be spiritually disciplined
Published about 1 month ago • 2 min read
Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], I don't know about you, but I try to set aside a little bit of time at the end of the year to evaluate my growth in different areas. Where have I seen progress physically? How about spiritually? There's one thing I've noticed over the years:
Maturity doesn't come naturally.
The thing is, we don't become mature Christians by listening to great worship music or having that one "God moment" at a conference. By God's grace, we build maturity through the daily moments of intentional growth.
This means that the boring habits and schedules we create for ourselves are incredibly important!
This week, as we begin preparing for the next year, let's stop to consider how we want to build spiritual discipline for ourselves. What changes can you make to your daily routine that can compound over the course of the year?
Oh, and you'll hear me mention this at the end of the episode today: there's only a few weeks left of our early bird special where you can get 50% off Scripture Sync tickets!
Meet with other people from around the world who love memorizing God's Word and be encouraged by new ideas and methods for yourself.
All tickets are fully refundable up to one month prior to the event (June 2026), but ticket prices will go up in January. I really want to meet you in person next year!
📣 How to Build Spiritual Discipline (7 Actionable steps)
You don't have to implement all 7 steps, but if you can just walk away with one or two ideas here, it could change the way this next year goes!
Jennifer offered a beautiful pause in the middle of a busy week, encouraging our community to slow down, breathe, and remember why this season exists. Amid the rush of December tasks, she pointed us back to the heart of Christmas, “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16). Read her encouragement here.
Many of us remember the moment we first thought, “Maybe I could memorize an entire book of the Bible…” Susan, a brand-new member, is asking one of the most common questions for beginners: Where should I start? Her honesty about past starts and stops will resonate with so many in our community. Come see her question and add your wisdom to encourage one of our newest members!
One of our members recently asked a deeply relatable question for anyone walking through a difficult season with a teen: What Scriptures can I cling to when my child is wandering? She’s specifically looking for Psalms or verses to meditate on, and many in our community have walked this road before. If you have insight, encouragement, or verses that strengthened you in a similar season, your voice could mean so much. Come join the conversation and help offer comfort rooted in God’s Word.
A Request for Reviews
The interesting thing about audio podcasts is that they don't grow organically (i.e. there is no algorithm like YouTube). This means that podcast reviews and word of mouth are critical to make this resource available to others. If you listen to any of our podcasts, would you please take a minute this week to leave a review? Consider it your Christmas gift to us ;)
There are plenty of other things I could have added to the list of steps to grow in spiritual discipline, so if you have something particular in mind, feel free to reply and let me know. Or just leave a comment on the YouTube video :)
