Hey [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], this week met a man at a business conference who was incredibly successful and wealthy. His stated goal was to "be famous" and to make hundreds of millions of dollars instead of just the tens of millions he already had made. After a bit of conversation, he turned and politely asked me what I do.
"I make YouTube videos about memorizing the Bible."
I don't know what he expected to hear, but it definitely wasn't that! He was a bit caught off guard and I could tell he didn't quite know what to ask next. So, I just filled in the silence.
"I'm convinced that the Bible is the life-changing Word of God, so if that's true, wouldn't you agree that knowing exactly what it says, word for word, would be important?"
It's pretty hard to argue with that, honestly, even though he wasn't a Christian. I had a chance to share a bit of my testimony and why I do what I do, and after the initial shock wore off, he asked a bunch of great questions about the Bible and God.
I share this as a simple reminder that while your memorization of Scripture can deepen your personal faith, it can also be a testimony to those around you. Why would a book written thousands of years ago be so important to you?
"Well, let me tell you why..." ๐

What does a personal development quote, a metaphor of swimming in the ocean and spiritual maturity have in common? Quite a lot, actually.
Emily recently shared a fun resource for NKJV memorizers, a new hardcover New Testament from Thomas Nelson designed for tracing and note-taking. After hearing about it, she stopped by her local Christian bookstore and picked up a copy herself. If writing out Scripture helps your memorization process, this may be a resource worth checking out!โ
Nathan shared an observation from his church that sparked a great discussion. After hearing someone suggest that memorization is easier for children and much harder for adults, he began wondering: Have we unintentionally treated Scripture memory as something primarily for kids?
The conversation that followed explored age, ability, expectations, and whether adults may be more capable of memorizing than we often believe.
One of the most encouraging places in our community is the Share Your Wins space. This week, members celebrated milestones big and small, from learning new verses to reaching long-term memory goals and seeing Scripture bear fruit in daily life.
Need a dose of encouragement? Come celebrate what God is doing and consider sharing a win of your own!
If you've never heard of Scripture Memory Fellowship, you're missing out on an amazing collection of resources for both individual and small group memorization. SMF has been an amazing supporter of Scripture Sync and will have a table of books for those who are joining in-person in Dallas!
This is the last week that you can purchase in-person or virtual tickets for Scripture Sync. This week is going to be crazy - I covet your prayers as we put together all the final details for the event.
